Anne W. Burrell was TV personality and ex-chef of the Institute of Culinary Education and previously taught cooking. Anne Burrell. Burrell hosts of Secrets of a Restaurant Chef for Food Network. Food Network, as well as co-host of Worst Cooks in America. Her signature spiky blonde hair and her pumped-up appearance, Anne Burrell eliminates the intimidation of dining out, and provides concise easy-to-master techniques for the at-home cook in her Food Network series Secrets of a Restaurant Chef. Chef Burrell has worked in many of the best eateries within New York, studied the cuisine and culture of Italy as well as competed on the Food Network's Iron Chef America. As a child in the upper reaches of New York area, Chef Burrell developed a passion for food and cooking early on. The Culinary Institute of America is where she went following her graduation with an English diploma and Communications diploma from Canisius College Buffalo NY. The student says "I enjoyed being a Culinary Institute of America (CIA) student. I enjoyed every moment." The Culinary Institute of America was an excellent opportunity to pursue a degree. After graduating Chef Burrell lived in Italy for a year, attending classes at the Italian Culinary Institute for Foreigners. Additionally, she worked at La Taverna del Lupo and La Bottega del 30 (a Michelin highly rated restaurant) in Tuscany. In her time in Italy she grew to truly comprehend and appreciate the philosophies behind Italian culinary and cultural traditions that left a lasting impact from a culinary perspective. Burrell was the Garden of Dreams Foundation Advisory Board participant, with the goal of to increase the lives of kids who are facing difficulties. Burrell also serves as an Juvenile Disease Research Foundation celebrity spokesperson and promotes awareness about the dangers of childhood diabetes. She travels frequently around the country in her role as a mentor as well as a an invited speaker, where she talks about her professional life and the joy of cooking. Anne has said throughout her culinary career she's grateful to be able to share what's most important to her.
